Urokinase

Gentium is a leader in Europe for Urokinase production. Urokinase is an enzyme isolated from human urine that activates plasminogen. It is a thrombolytic drug which directly converts plasminogen to fibrinolysin, a proteolytic enzyme with fibrinolytic effects. The drug is used in the management of thromboembolic disorders such as, deep venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, acute myocardial infarction and peripheral arterial thromboembolism. It is also important in maintaining catheter patency.
